Forgotten faces – Facce dimenticate –

Rome, Italy: The well known, beautiful and immense park of Villa Borghese in Rome has many statues of soldiers who died in the second world war that fascinate me. When someone dies, they make all kinds of speeches, that they will never forget the sacrifice, etc. but looking at those statues it seems that no one remembers them any more.

The country which forgets its heroes is doomed to be forgotten soon .And to paint ‘em black, well, its decadence at its worst !

But doesn’t that happen every where? May be they don’t blacken the faces of statues, but if I think of the widows of the soldiers in India and the problems they face to get pension or to get benefit from Government schemes, I feel that things are not so different!
